Description
My client is a leading blue chip pharma producer in Solid Dose drug manufacturing. Due to increased business growth and project activity, there is an immediate requirement for a high experienced Formulation Scientist to join the team. The successful candidate will play an active role in the formulation development of company’s proprietary products. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join an expanding team at the leading edge of solid dose and proprietary drug manufacture.


Responsibilities
You will design formulations and potentially novel formulation approaches for company’s proprietary products. As Formulation Scientist you will show initiative in generating new ideas, experimental design and understanding of literature and interpretation of results. You will also develop experimental ideas and write reports with minimal consultation. You will be able to successfully perform tasks with a focus on oral formulation, OCR and conventional solid dosage forms, along with liquid dosage forms. You will continuously develop your knowledge in relevant subject areas as well as in areas outside of direct function, with a view to transferring to others. One of your key tasks is to identify and support implementation of formulation development and optimisation programmes with clear objectives. You will also participate actively in relevant project team meetings. You will be able to perform to a high quality level project related tasks like interpret formulation, analytical and bioanalytical data; you will also provide trouble-shooting input on a formulation level and a processing level. The Formulation Scientist will execute technical work to a high standard, as appropriate to relevant projects using standard procedures and non-standard procedures of some complexity. You will develop and evaluate systems to optimise formulation processes. The Formulation Scientist will demonstrate ongoing familiarity with literature and incorporate observations/information into formulation programmes. One of your tasks is to utilise data from literature surveys on a regular basis to support experimental / developmental work. Comply with all aspects of cGMP, Safety and Environmental regulations and Company policies, which impacts on doing the job. You will work as a team member to actively participate in achieving the aims and goals of the project team. As Formulation Scientist you will communicate issues, data and resolution ideas within R&D in a timely manner to permit objectives to be met. You will prepare timely, concise and accurate reports on work performed and outlining plans for future work. You will also prepare and present presentations internally and externally.

Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry/Physics/Pharmacy and 8+ years of relevant experience OR M.Sc. with 5+ years OR PhD with up to 2 years relevant industrial experience. Experience in solid and liquid oral dosage forms is essential. Experience in OCR is a plus. Experience in physical chemistry techniques and applications and material science is a plus.
Preferred qualifications
Proactivity and innovative thinking with good problem solving skills. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, collaborative, communication (written and verbal) and time management skills are essential. Results and Performance driven. Ability to work in a team structure.
