PHP Developer – Malta

Description
Working within a small team, you will be primarily responsible to develop and test solutions according to day-to-day needs. You will be also expected to contribute concurrently between different projects. The selected candidate would ideally hold a tertiary level of education and demonstrate a strong command of PHP. Experience in AngularJS will be considered an asset.


Responsibilities
Your role: • Maintaining the current code base and bug fixing; • Analysing requirements and improving existing applications; • Researching, designing and writing new code; • Updating the code with added features on request of operations team; • Writing documentation for new features; • Providing efficient design and coding; • Delivering proper guidance, support and quality on page layout, display and features functionalities of the websites; • Investigating new technologies and how these can be applied to better improve our current operations; • Working closely with other staff and ensuring proper communication with other developers, designers and business analysts for an efficient outcome.

Minimum qualifications
What we are looking for: Essential: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a similar field; or equivalent experience; • At least 3 years working experience in PHP; • Experience in MySQL Databases and no SQL Databases, such as MongoDB; • Working experience in AngularJS; • Experience in GIT, or other distributed SCMs; • Familiar with command design patterns; • Knowledge of writing complex SQL queries (optimising them and avoid pitfalls); • Knowledge of Rest APIs; • Good verbal and written communication skills; • Object-oriented; • Problem solving skills; • Able to work at own initiative and part of a team; • Fluent in English.
Preferred qualifications
Desirable: • Experience in MVC framework, such as Symfony and Falcon; • NodeJS; • Redis; • Elastic Search; • Knowledge of Symfony2 and Propel; • Fluent in French.
